Exercise…that thing we all rush to do once the holiday season is over! Joking aside, getting in shape and doing regular exercise is extremely important for our health. But what’ll make you feel even better about doing exercise is that there are heaps of companies making training equipment in the USA. I come across them frequently and all my latest finds are listed below on this page.

Kettle Gryp
Kettle Gryp was founded in 2016 by Daniel Sheppard and Andrew Thomas, and is a San Diego-based company specializing in innovative fitness equipment. The Kettle Gryp is a portable dumbbell adapter that transforms standard dumbbells into kettlebell-like weights, offering versatility for strength training. The Kettle Gryp is constructed from high-impact ABS plastic, ensuring durability and lightweight portability, and is manufactured entirely in the USA. In 2022, the company gained national attention by securing a deal on the television show “Shark Tank”.

OPTP
OPTP (Orthopedic Physical Therapy Products) is a Minneapolis-based company that specializes in innovative physical therapy, fitness, and wellness products. Their offerings include foam rollers, lumbar rolls, and exercise balls, many of which are exclusive or OPTP-branded, accounting for over 85% of their product mix. It’s important to note though that not all of their products are USA-made so please read descriptions before buying. Their Stretch Out Staps and many of their lumbar support products are listed as being ‘Made in USA’.

The Step
The Step Company was started by Ray Irwin in the 1980’s and revolutionized fitness with the introduction of the original aerobic step platform, a product that has become a staple in group exercise classes worldwide. The company is committed to American manufacturing, producing all steps, blocks, weights, collars, and storage racks domestically. Their Dumbbell Bars, and Barbell bars are currently the only products that they sell that are not made in the USA, and they are actively looking for a domestic source for them.

Versa Gripps
Versa Gripps is a family-owned company based in Sorrento, Maine, specializing in innovative weightlifting accessories. Their flagship product, Versa Gripps, combines the functions of gloves, lifting straps, hooks, and wrist supports into a single device, enhancing grip strength and reducing fatigue during workouts. Manufactured on the coast of Maine, these grips are crafted from exclusive, non-slip materials and feature a self-supporting design for ease of use.

Dominion Strength Training
Dominion Strength Training makes high-quality leather weightlifting belts and accessories that are handcrafted in the USA using top-grain cow leather, ensuring durability and longevity. Notable offerings include the 3-inch Single Ply Leather Weightlifting Belt, designed for flexibility and quick break-in, and the 3-inch Double Ply Leather Weightlifting Belt, offering enhanced support for advanced lifters.

FlexEx
FlexEx makes hand exercisers that are designed to enhance grip strength and aid in the rehabilitation of wrist and hand injuries. Their product line includes the FlexEx Original, FlexEx Health, and FlexEx SPORT, each tailored to different resistance levels and therapeutic needs. They are patented and proudly manufactured and packaged in the USA.

Hugger Mugger
Hugger Mugger was founded in 1986 by Sara Chambers in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is a pioneer in the yoga equipment industry. The company introduced the Tapas® Mat, the first nonskid mat made in the USA that was designed specifically for yoga practice. They now produce a range of yoga products, with Made in USA options for mats, bolsters, props, meditation accessories and more. Please note that not all of their products are USA-made, but for each product category on their website they have a ‘Made in USA’ filter that you should select.

ProStretch
ProStretch was developed in the early 1990s by an auto mechanic rehabilitating a knee injury. The brand now offers a specialized line of stretching devices designed to enhance flexibility and prevent injuries. While they make products targeting numerous different parts of the body, it’s only the Calf Stretcher that is specifically stated as being ‘Made in USA. This product line includes the ProStretch Original, ProStretch Plus, and ProStretch Double, each featuring a unique rocker design that holds the foot in the optimal position for an effective stretch.

Aquamentor
Aquamentor was founded in 1983 and is a leading provider of lifeguard, first-aid, and swim equipment. Many, but not all, of the products the company sells are made in the USA. Please read descriptions carefully.

SUGA
SUGA is an eco-conscious company based in Encinitas, California, that makes yoga mats that are crafted entirely from recycled wetsuits. By repurposing neoprene, SUGA addresses the environmental challenge of non-biodegradable wetsuit waste, transforming it into high-performance yoga mats. All products are manufactured in the USA.

IPR Fitness
IPR Fitness was started by Robert Saar in 2015 and is a California-based company that specializes in innovative fitness equipment and workout accessories. Their product line includes items such as the Glute Kickback PRO, Iso Handle PRO, and Hip Thrust X, each designed to enhance specific muscle engagement while ensuring joint safety. The company’s products are manufactured and designed 100% in the United States.

Bosu
BOSU®—an acronym for “Both Sides Utilized”—is renowned for its innovative fitness equipment designed to enhance balance, flexibility, and strength. The company’s flagship product, the BOSU® Balance Trainer, features a unique half-sphere design that allows for versatile workouts on both its flat and domed sides. Not all of their products are USA-made, but all of their Balance Trainers are, and numerous other products too.

Top Form Design
Top Form Design was founded in 2019 by Russ Hadlock and Casey Jones. It is a Yakima, Washington-based company specializing in fitness equipment accessories. They state on their website…”Whether it’s enhancing the functionality of your workout space or adding an extra layer of comfort, each product is proudly Made in the USA and meticulously crafted to meet the highest standards. Notable offerings include The Pivot, a 360° movement monitor adjuster compatible with Peloton bikes, and The Tray, a convenient accessory tray for various bike models.

SuperMats
SuperMats is a veteran-owned company based in Elk River, Minnesota, that manufactures high-quality residential and commercial floor mats. They produce a diverse range of products, including fitness mats, agricultural mats, and ergonomic mats. Some of their most popular items include the TreadMat, designed to protect floors from heavy exercise equipment, and the SuperLock™ interlocking flooring system, which provides easy installation without adhesives. The company’s headquarters along with their packaging, distribution, and rubber manufacturing facilities are located in Elk River, MN. Their vinyl manufacturing facility is located in Fairmount, GA, USA.

Zensah
Zensa has been running since 2004 and is based in South Florida. They sell advanced athletic compression apparel designed to enhance the performance and comfort for athletes of all levels. They utilize cutting-edge, seamless technology to develop products made with the most comfortable fabric and perfect ergonomic fit. Their product line includes compression leg sleeves, knee sleeves, and ankle sleeves. Just be aware that not all items are made in the USA. In their FAQ section, they state “The majority of Zensah products are made in either the United States or Italy.” I did find some items made in Taiwan too, so just read product descriptions carefully, as I can’t find an effective way of linking to their USA-made items only.

FitFighter
FitFighter is a fitness company specializing in strength training tools like the Steelhose, which is a versatile free weight made from real firehose material filled with recycled steel, designed to enhance strength, stability, and endurance. FitFighter operates its manufacturing facility in New York, where all Steelhoses are produced. Abmat
AbMat began by manufacturing the original AbMat, a core training device designed by Fred Koch in the early 2000s. Today AbMat specializes in innovative fitness accessories, collaborating with inventors worldwide to develop products that address specific training needs. Most (potentially all?) of their products appear to be manufactured in the USA.

Skwoosh
Skwoosh was founded in 2003 and specializes in lightweight, high-performance gel cushions designed to enhance comfort across various activities. Their manufacturing facility is located in Johnstown, New York, and produces a diverse range of products, including kayak seat pads, motorcycle cushions, and travel accessories. Skwoosh’s patented TekPad® gel technology ensures superior pressure relief and comfort, making their products a preferred choice for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers.

Micro Gainz
Micro Gainz is a business that was started in 2016 by Mike Reed. After following a linear strength training program where you add 5 lbs to each exercise every time the exercise is performed, he discovered a need for fractional weight plates as the 5 lb jumps in weight became too tough to sustain. And that’s how he came up with his precision-manufactured fractional weight plates. All products are manufactured close to Clearfield, Pennsylvania and the product line includes barbell micro plates ranging from 0.25 to 1 pound, and innovative dumbbell micro plates that clamp onto handles, enabling fine-tuned weight adjustments.
